With strong ties to the local community, our support workers reflect the sense of belonging Tendercare embodies. Our team is familiar with the diverse cultures of Townsville, representing those of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, Somalis, Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Nepalese, Kenyans, Central Africans, Congolese, Arabs and Filipinos. We provide accessible information to the participant and family members in their preferred language. As of 2016, the Townsville City Council notes that 7.1% of the people living in Townsville speak in a language other than English. At Tendercare, we recognise the intersection between language support and disability support. We are committed to removing language barriers that limit access to information and services pertaining to disability and mental health. We provide information about the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) and its services in a variety of languages. Our support workers are proficient in the following languages:
Honesty forms the foundations of Tendercare’s delivery of services. Our open and honest communication is essential for creating trust between individuals, service providers, and all other stakeholders involved.
Upholding integrity within the care community extends beyond delivering our services. Maintaining integrity is not limited to the care of our participants, but rather extends to the larger community of stakeholders.
Delivering Compassionate, individual-focused care has a signifi cant impact beyond the person receiving it. It involves extending compassion to their families, caregivers, and the broader community.
We are a highly diversified team. We recognise, accept and respect everyone regardless of race, colour and religion. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment where everyone can participate.
You are in control of your support and care. We empower our participants to make choices about how they live their life, how often and when to access support, who they want to be with and the type of support needed.
